About Mike Shreeve
Director, Helixhr
This is the section where you say how good you are at everything. To balance it up, I am really bad at cooking, have a phobia of IT and cannot do anything practical around the house! Now the potted history and halo polish.
After getting a degree from Balliol College, Oxford in Politics, Philosophy and Economics, I worked as a teacher in Africa, as an accountant with Peat Marwick(now KPMG) and ANZ Merchant Bank. Then I discovered my red rubber ball. Exploring and teaching. My recent career was as Training and HR director of Williams Allan Group which became part of TenonGroup. Here, I set up the external HR offering and worked with all sorts of businesses and their people issues.
Over the years I became a bit disillusioned with the safety first approach to HR in the profession, so I started Helixhr to advise how to get the best from people, rather than stop them doing damage.
I think psychology can help in many situations.
I am licenced to use the Myers Briggs Temperament Indicator and 16pf as well as a trainer of NLP and an accredited NLP coach. In professional qualifications I am a Chartered Accountant and fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
a little bit about past careers…. has sold strawberries in a greengrocery.
likes about HR: understanding how people learn and what makes them tick, coaching, all types of people including grumpy ones. Loves creative/artistic people.
does not like: management speak, corporate politics, Weatherspoons and Facebook!
if not HR then-explorer, footballer or sports psychologist
